Free MCP Servers
Tools where an agent can do real work without you buying a seat first — and an honest note on what each free tier actually covers.
MCP servers that are free to act on (30)
"Free MCP server" usually is not
Almost every vendor will tell you their MCP server is free. That is usually true and usually irrelevant — the server is free, the access is not. Figma's server costs nothing and caps Starter accounts at roughly six tool calls a month. DaVinci Resolve ships an official MCP server in the free app, but the scripting layer it rides on is Studio-only, so you need the $295 licence before an agent can touch a timeline.
This page filters on a different question: can an agent do useful work without you paying first? Every listing here answers free to that, and every one still tells you where the metering starts.
Free to connect vs free to act
We record three things separately. Plan required is what you must buy before agents work at all — free, a paid plan, a one-time licence, or an enterprise contract. Usage metering is what happens after that: unmetered, usage-metered, or a hard cap. Plan details is the sentence that actually matters, like Zapier charging two tasks per MCP call, which turns a 100-task free plan into about fifty agent actions.
A tool can be free to connect and expensive to use. Those are different facts and they get different fields.
Free does not mean safe
Cost is one pillar of four. Plenty of free servers have a high blast radius — an agent with a free Redis or Resend connection can flush a cache or email your customers. Check the Control score before you hand one an API key, and prefer tools that let you grant read-only scopes.
