Salesforce MCP Server

Capable, but hard to hand over unsupervised.

The most capable CRM surface and the most gated: Enterprise licence, org admin, connected app. Budget setup time, not just money.

What an agent can do here

Official MCP servers from the Salesforce CLI team (local, against authenticated orgs) plus a hosted counterpart — powerful, but licence-gated and heavy to configure.

Action depth
Core write

Agents can do the product’s core job — edit the timeline, ship the deploy, update the record.

Hosting
Self-run

You run the server process yourself.

Auth
Complex
Unattended
Needs a human

Interactive OAuth only — it cannot be provisioned without someone clicking through.

Blast radius
High

A wrong call is expensive, public, or irreversible.

Permission scoping: Granular scopes

What it costs to let an agent act

EnterpriseUnmetered

Reported as gated to Enterprise Edition licensing; org permissions and connected-app setup add further friction.
